Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

I love matte foundation. So I decided to try this foundation from Maybelline since it was on sale the time that I bought it in Robinson's department store. I won't make this post long, so here is my review of the said foundation.

Price : Originally at P499, I got this for only P350.00 together with Maybelline Rocket Volume Mascara (review soon). I don't usually buy foundation in malls because you can buy online for almost 30-50% off the srp. But since it was on sale, and I have the chance to choose the perfect shade for me, I decided to try the foundie and found my shade.

Shade: I am not really sure how many shade it has, but I only saw 2-3 shade available in the Maybelline stall, and I am in the shade "Medium 0" (light beige) which I think is the best match for my skin tone. It was really hard to choose the right shade! One of the hardest thing ever!

Packaging: It's heavy and bulky. Unsanitary. You have to dip you hands to pick up the foundation. Use spatula to scoop the product.

Texture: It's mousse so it's thick. During the first month, the foundation is very smooth, then after 2 months of using this, the mousse started to form into granules. I don't know if it is normal.

Coverage: Coverage is light to medium. But I really like the finish because it is matte and can be considered as second skin. It feels really light on the skin and it has smooth finish. But it accentuate dry patches so moisturizing is a must prior to applying this.

Application: The perfect tool to use in applying the foundation is by your fingers. It can melt the mousse while making circular motion. I also tried using buffing brush, it works but it seems like a lot of product goes to the brush. It's a little bit hard to blend.

Staying power: I don't usually apply powder after applying this mousse foundation because it may look cakey if I do. I just blot the excess oil after 3-4 hours then apply powder foundation at the middle of the day, and it still looks good naman. So basically it stays for about 4-7 hours without primer (oily skin) then maybe it will last up to 8-10 hours when applied with primer and powder.

Maybelline has dryer finish while L'oreal looks silky.

Is it worth it?: Yes! This is actually one of my favorite foundation. It feels so light to the skin and it has good coverage. Price is affordable. It can be use as everyday foundation specially made for those who have oily skin like me.

It's currently on sale, you can buy this for only P250.00.!

Here's a before and after picture of me wearing the foundation.

L'oreal True Match Super Blendable Foundation : W6

I am investing in good drugstore foundation. Since L'oreal Tue Match has been a topic of beauty bloggers in recent months, I  have decided to try it for myself and see if it will work on my oily skin.

The shade I got, unfortunately is 2 shades darker than my skintone. I watched reviews on youtube and read beauty blogs to know what might be my shade is, but still got the wrong shade. I really thought that it will 100% perfectly match my skintone, but NOT!!
Anyway, I am still going to use this foundation specially during summer. And whenever I bought again a wrong shade of foundation in future (lighter) I can mix it with this foundation to achieve my perfect match.

Price: This is being sold at the L'oreal stall in malls for P600 pesos, but I bought this online for only P350.00 only + shipping fee. I saved almost 40% off the srp.

Packaging : The bottle is made of glass but not the fragile one. I mean it's not heavy. But you still have to be careful since it may broke once it fell off on you hands. It doesn't have a pump so be very careful in dispensing out the product.

Shade : Base on their website it has 33 shades available (from Cool, Warm and Neutral undertones). So that's a wide selection to choose from. I have the shade W6 but I do believe that the perfect match would be W3 or W4.

Texture : It's liquidy. That's all. hehe

Coverage : Light to Medium. It's very blendable and buildable. You can layer this foundation but I don't since it's a little bit sticky. It has SPF17 which is nice, and yes it doesn't give you white cast on pictures! It can cover minor blemishes, and pores are less visible.

Application : You can use any brush or tools that you want since the foundation is very blendable (very true to what it claims).

Longevity : 4-6 hours for oily skin like me. But if you have a good primer this might stay for up to 8 hours. Powder is needed since it doesn't claim to beat oiliness. It also transfer on tissues and clothing.

Swatches:
ABOVE PICTURE : WITHOUT FLASH
BELOW PICTURE : WITH FLASH
As you can see, it's darker than my skintone.
It also has micro shimmers, but it's not that visible when applied on face. I think the reason why they added shimmers is that, to make the skin glow. I think it suits those who have morena skin.

Comparison to my other foundation:
Left to Right:
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation (0)
L'oreal True Match Foundation (W6)
Covergirl Outlast Foundation (842)
WITH FLASH
WITHOUT FLASH

You have to wait for several minutes to let it set on your skin. Make sure to apply powder on top of it to set it specially if you have oily skin like mine. I still like this foundation, though it isn't smudge proof and it did not match my skintone, the blendability is what I really love about this foundation. Plus, it doesn't give you a white cast. Maybe if I got the perfect shade, I would definitely use this as my everday foundation at work. It will works best with dry skin.

Packaging wise. As you can see, the bottle has a pump so it's easier for you to control the product. The bottle is made up of plastic and glass which is not that heavy compared to Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation.

As you can see there the foundation has micro shimmers, but fret not because it doesn't look obvious upon application.

Swatches:
A little goes a long way, a single pump is enough to cover my entire face.
Right side well blended

What to love:
- Packaging
- Smooth Application
- A little goes a long way
- Flawless looking
- Minimize the pores
- With SPF
- With Retinol
- Light to medium coverage

What I hate:
- Scent
- Micro Shimmer
- Not for oily skin!
- It oxidizes!
- Whitecast (ironic because it oxidize)
- Shades are so so, not Asian friendly I guess.
- It transfer

Not really sure if you will benefit all its "proven results" because I stop using this. The shade didn't match my skin tone and the formulation is not compatible with my skin condition which is "Oily". I think this one is good for women who are ages 30 and up. Those who has dry skin.

Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation

Evil scars, Acne, Bumps, large pores and oiliness, those are the things that I hate about my face. I've tried a lot of products in the market to solve my problem, but I just haven't met the perfect solution for it. So a good foundation is what I really need if I want to achieve a temporary flawless looking face (specially on important events). I haven't tried a lot of drugstore liquid foundation because since you all know, I am  "kuripot" so I always go for local brand like Ever Bilena. So I am very glad to receive this baby from my Aunt who gave this to me for FREE! Yehey!

Yes, it's the super famous and most rave drugstore liquid foundation from Revlon, the Colorstay Liquid Foundation for Combi/Oily Skin. After reading a lot of reviews and youtube videos, my hands are itching to have this and see if it will work for me. Glad to know that it did not disappoint me!
To those who are not yet familiar with this particular foundation, here's the information about the Revlon colorstay:

"Longwearing coverage with a lightweight formula that won’t cake, fade, or rub off. With Time Release Technology specifically formulated for combination or oily skin to control oil absorption and shine. Your look stays flawless throughout the day."

It is available in 20 shades, but majority are in pink undertones. Fortunately, Aunt got the yellow undertone for me which is the 300 Golden Beige shade.
Here's what the foundation claims.

The bottle doesn't come with a pump and it is made up of heavy glass.
The foundation looks like darker in the bottle, but upon application it actually differs.

Here's how the product looks like inside.

On the swatch:
(err, blogger roughen the images once again. My freckles are not that obvious in personal)

It matches my skin tone when applied on my hand.
The foundation only needs your hand to blend it.
See how it covers and hides my freckles on my hand?
After 10 minutes.

On my face:

I did not put any concealer or primer underneath. See how it even-out my skin tone and minimize my pores. It also mattifies my skin.

After more than 8 hours:
I retouched only at the middle of the day with a very thin face powder using my Maybelline Shine Free Foundation. And yes, the foundation was still there!

 Flash Photography:
Instant Flawless face!

Honestly,  the shade that I got is quite lighter than my face. So it tends to give me whitecast on flash photography, but it oxidize after an hour so the shade matches my skintone.

The Good Points:
- Matte
- Sweatproof
- Great coverage
- Doesn't feel heavy
- A little goes a long way
- Good for oily or combination skin
- It stays long even in humid heat
- Great for picture taking / photography (if you got the right shade)
- Needs only minimal retouching or 1 blotting paper if you have extremely oily skin

The bad side:
- Expensive (for me)
(it cost around P900 on drugstores here in the Philippines, so better check out online store which sell this around P550 and up)
- Doesn't come with a pump
- Some says they don't like the scent (but it doesn't bother me)
- Combi/Oily skin formula may tends to dry some parts of your face if you are in fully aircondition room
- It dries fast so blend immediately
- The bottle is super heavy
- Majority of the shades are pink undertone so you'd better find which shade matches yours
- Some did break out with this foundation

Tips:
Application : For me, I prefer my fingers to apply the foundation rather than my liquid foundation brush because it streaks a bit. With fingers, it helps to melt the foundation. You can use primer if you want and moisturizer if you have parts on your skin which are dry.

Setting Powder : You only need a thin powder to set this foundation because it tends to look cakey if you overdo it. You can also use dark powder foundation if the shade is a bit lighter than you and vice versa.

I also use this to my clients and I really love how it stays on their face despite of sweat, tears and humid heat!
And for me, this is by far the best foundation I ever tried when it comes to coverage and staying formula.

(If you want to pre-order, you can ask PrettyThrifty Shop)

And that's it.
How bout you gals, have you tried this foundation?
What's your experience?

Review : Jewel Pop Mineral Foundation

In this review, I am going to share with you my thoughts about the Jewel Pop Mineral Foundation. If you haven't heard about the Jewel Pop Cosmetics, here's a short information about them:
"JEWEL POP! Mineral Cosmetics are made from natural and organic materials that are US-FDA approved. All ingredients were sourced from US and Australia. Products are guaranteed safe, even on extra-sensitive skin. No bismuth, F,D & C pigments, parabens, and talc".

I notice that I only have 2 posts reviewing about powder foundation. So I am very glad when I received this mineral foundation as GIFT from this HAUL.
I haven't tried any product from them so I am very happy when they sent me a sample of their foundation. Since, I only have 2 to 3 posts about foundation, I decided to add this to my list.
Jewel Pop Mineral Foundation comes in this small round tube.
This is how the product looks like.
The powder may look not so fine in the picture but it is very fine in person.
It may look lighter than my complexion, but upon application it somehow a bit darker than my skin tone.

Here's the swatch of the powder at the back of my hand.

On my face:
Left picture is me with just Ever Bilena BB Cream, on the right side is me wearing the mineral foundation on top of EB BB Cream.
I really love how it refine my pores!

Love:
Powder is very fine
Easy to blend
It hides my big pores
Smooth on skin
It has super tiny shimmers

The ugly truth:
It oxidize
It doesn't stay long on my face
It doesn't work on oily skin
The scent of the powder is a little weird
Mineral foundation is very messy to use (as general)

Methinks that the powder will work for those who have dry skin. I really like the texture and how it smoothen my face and the fact that it makes my pores less visible. But it doesn't work for me specially when I layer it, it has tendency to get cakey. Nonetheless, I am still going to keep this foundation. I am planning to use this to my clients which has dry skin.

Thank you Smoochie's for sending this to me.
