My Brace Journey : 31st Day, Activation

So, I already shared with you my first 30th day of having braces and it was actually okay. Doesn't hurt me that much nor makes me feel so uncomfortable. I am pretty much confident that during my activation (replacement of straight wire) it will not hurt too. Am I wrong? Well, before I have my braces, I've been reading a lot of experiences and most of them suffered from pain during every adjustments, that's why taking pain killers is needed. But some said the pain is tolerable. so if you have high pain tolerance, you don't have to take pain killers. So, I tell myself "Siguro di ko na kailangan ng pain killers. Masyado lang sigurong mababa yung pain tolerance nila". Aha, confident ang lola mo!

Then lat Saturday, December 1, that's my 31st day of having braces and my activation. Maybe some of you is not familiar with the term "activation", because Dentists have different procedures. During my installation of braces, my dentist put a temporary thin wire instead of the traditional arch wire. so during my activation, the thin wire which comes in an "8" figure has been removed and replace with the Round Arch wire.

" Round wires are obviously round in cross-section. Rectangular wires can be square or rectangular in cross section.

In the beginning stages of treatment, round wires are typically used to level and align the teeth. This is because when considering arch wires made from identical materials, round wires are more elastic and so the orthodontist will be able to engage all your teeth into the wire without popping off brackets. If he uses a wire that is too stiff and tries to tie the arch wire to a really crooked tooth, the wire will put too much pressure on the bracket, and the bracket may break off from the tooth." -http://www.archwired.com/

While the arch wire is being installed, I felt a little bit of tightness on my teeth  that I didn't feel when the thin wire was installed. The Elastic Ligature (round bands) were also replaced. And I went for "Violet". I don't know if it looks nice than the Turqoise, I just wanted to try all of the colors within the year. 

Elastic Ligature:These little rings, or colored modules, are used to attach the archwire to the brackets. There are plenty of colors to choose from including clear rings.

 So here's how it looks like:

 As you can see, my main problem is my front tooth, it is protruded. So my dentist told me that the treatment will just be within a year.

After the activation, It feels good pa rin though there's a tightness on my teeth. The first 2 hours was just "easy". But then on the 3rd hour and beyond, I started to feel the pain. It's getting worse. Oh no! Eto na yata yung sinasabi nilang "crazy feeling". It was almost like nerve wracking pain! When I make a tight bite, firmly close my mouth, my teeth hurts. It's kinda itchy at the same time. "This is it! Ang feeling ay kay sakit!". Yung pain na nakakainit ng ulo. Nakakabwiset. Pero partida, while on my pain, I am actually formatting a pc (sideline! hahaha). Pero it doesn't stop me from eating. I still eat rice and chicken, but no biting. "Hinihimay himay ko muna yung ulam". During that night, natiis kong hindi uminom ng pain killer. But on the next day, it hurts pa rin. So I asked my brother to buy me Dolphenal. I took it before I sleep, and voila! When I woke up, there is only minimal pain. Effective! So today is my 4th day upon activation (35th day of wearing braces) and still there is a bit iof pain when I bump my lower teeth on my upper teeth. Tama ang sabi nila. During the first 2-3 days masakit sya, pero it will gradually change and the pain will slowly disappears.

My next visit will be on the end of the month which is on December 31st. I'll update yolu again guys on my second adjustment! Mabuhay ang may mga braces! At Welcome sa "Alambre World" sa mga newbies na kakakabit lang din ng braces nila! Tiis Ganda!

My Brace Journey : My 30th Day

This afternoon my braces were finally activated, but before I talk about it, let me share with you my first month of having orthodontic braces.

Yesterday was my 30th day of wearing braces. Actually it feels ordinary. Thou I can feel more the brackets on my lower teeth I find it comfortable . But during my first 3 days, after the braces had been installed, I got some sores on my lower cheek because of hook on the bracket . So that's the main discomfort. And also, I use to feel the aches on my teeth, like when I push it with my tongue, it kinda hurt a bit. But still it's tolerable. I did not take any pain killers or wax to address the discomfort. I can still stand the pain. "Wa epek pa!", let's see how will I react on my first adjustment. Katakots!

The real thing that bothers me is that it's hard to eat all the food that you used to eat before. You must be very careful when chewing and of course you should not eat those crackers which are very thick, baka matanggal bracket mo.

And of course, you cannot do the usual thing you do before, na you can brush your teeth after 15 minutes or more, because you're not having "Tinga" on your teeth. But with braces, you just can't! Brushing your teeth after meal is a MUST! I always make "takip" on my mouth when I speak to my co-workers when we eat lunch "kahiya naman ang tinga ko". I even do the "gargling of water" after I eat so lesser "tinga".

If you will look closely on my teeth, the wires aren't straight yet.

One week after, a tragic came upon, one bracket has been dis-attached on my tooth not because I ate something hard,  you know why? Bumabangga yung upper teeth ko sa may 1st molar teeth ko sa baba. So ayun, when I was sleeping ,siguro nag grind ako and bigla nalang ako nagising because of the loud sound that came from my mouth.Yun pala natanggal na bracket ko. Pero nakaattached pa rin naman sya sa wire, so I immediately went to my dentist and fortunately, wala pa naman bayad yung bracket na natanggal since di pa daw activated yung braces ko.hgju jn

There's also good thing on having braces. I become more careful with my teeth. I always make sure to brush my teeth 3 times a day, gargle twice and floss it at night.I also notice that my gums become healthier specially on my central area. And most specially I can do the "Big Smile" na everyday without getting conscious of my hooked tooth kasi natatakpan na ng braces.

Aha, todo smile ang lola nyo!

I went for "Turquoise" pala for my rubbers. But now I decided to go for darker colors since they said that darker colors will make your teeth appear whiter. So I'll share with you what's the new colors of my rubbers on my next update. All I can say now is, nasa "tiis-ganda" moment na ako after my activation. Kailangan ko na yata ng pain killer!

My brace journey begins now. . . .

I've been wanting to have braces since when I was a little kid. Not knowing the real reason why a person should wear one. And when I was a little girl, I did not take good care of my teeth. So, needless to say "Nasa huli ang pagsisisi". As of now, I am 22, and I already lost 4 molars on the lower area of my teeth. I also have yellowish teeth and had done several root canals. I have one protruded tooth (which is my front right tooth) , crossbite and the very sad thing is that I am almost near in "TMJ". Everytime I open my mouth I hear a loud clicks on my left jaw. It wasn't that painful, it's tolerable but who knows, maybe one day when I yawn, I can't close my mouth anymore. That would be a horrible thing, isn't it? At this point I decided to have braces even if I am On a very tight budget. Really! Napasubo yata ako, ay mali, napaNGANGA pala.

So last October 30, I had my braces installed. My dentist is Dr.Sixto Cruz III.

I'm glad that it just takes less than an hour to installed my upper and lower braces! And hey, it did not hurt. Well, I know once we started the treatment it will start to hurt na. (kaba kaba!).

I have a protruded tooth at my central. I also have TMJ so I should have braces both on lower and upper areas.

And just after less than 1 hour, tapos na agad sya and here I am:

 I chose color blue for the rubbers.

I am advised to visit again my dentist by next week or at the end of the month. It depends on me if when would I like to start the adjustment. Maybe I'll be back pag sweldo na ulit.

And now I can smile widely na on every pictures.

The reasons why I temporarily snob makeup

Hello there guys! Weekend is coming near! I know we are all excited for it. Anyway, I would like to apologize for not posting any beauty related post for past 3 days. My camera went off, and I accidentally deleted the pictures of the products that I am planning to review here ( so much excuses right) ? Well, after my computer has been fixed (we bought new mobo) I wish I can fix my Canon Powershot A480 or maybe I can buy a new one soon. 

So lately, even if I have money, I am controlling myself not to buy any stuff, like makeup or shoes or anything. Well I did purchase something but it was just a Nivea facial foam and a Sunsilk Serum because I badly needed them. But, even if there's a lot of Sales ongoing on online shop and malls, I handcuffed (not literally) my hands so I will not tempt to buy anything. The reason why is this:

1.) I need to buy new phone. An affordable entry-level android phone by next month or on December. I am still deciding which one will I get but I am eyeing on to this phone:

2.) Since my 3-year old Digital Camera,my Canon Powershot A480 already went down, I am eyeing on this cheap digital camera:

Samsung Es90

I already saw an online shop who sell this camera with the cheapest price. I know it isn't fancy, but this is the only thing that my money can buy. I think this 14.2 megapixel camera is just the right one for me to take good shots of my product reviews, nail arts and special moments in my life.

3.) And last but not the least, one of the disturbing problem I am facing right now is that I have "TMJ" that's why I really need to wear braces as soon as possible.

I already saw again, a dental clinic wherein it offers a promo so 5k is enough for me to have braces on upper part only.

I am not dragging about this thing here on my blog, I know the things that I mentioned above are quite affordable to some of you, but for me, it isn't. It takes a lot of savings (5 paydays) for me before I reached the certain amount to be able to buy them. Actually, "nangutang na nga ko" sa Coop here sa office so I can buy a replacement for my mobo. It's hard when you don't have enough money but you badly needed tpo buy those things. At talagang nagsabay sabay pa sila. Well, I am just fortunate to have some of my mom traits. Specially when it comes to "pagbubudget". Well, I do wish that I can buy them all before the year ends. Hopefully! Sana! 

So the meantime, I have to snob all the makeup that were on my wishlist. Kaya ko to'! Aja!
